Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast originating from the tropical environment of Southeast Asia. It was first isolated in the 1920s by the French scientist Henri Boulard from lychee fruits - lychee Chinese and mangosteen delicious. Saccharomyces boulardii grows at a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and is non-systemic, meaning that it remains only in the digestive tract and does not reach other parts of the human body. A large number of double-blind studies have been devoted to its effectiveness in treating stomach and intestinal disorders. A positive effect has been noted in the treatment of stomach ulcers, Crohn's disease and infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria. It has been proven to improve symptoms in acute diarrhea of various origins, as well as in repeated infections caused by Clostridium difficile bacteria. Its use is also recommended for travelers' diarrhea, where the effect was confirmed, for example, by studies published in the works of authors Lynn and McFarland. According to several studies, Saccharomyces boulardii is also effective as a prevention of diarrhea caused by the use of antibiotics, both in adults and children. The combination of mastic and Saccharomyces boulardii yeast creates an interesting combination of a natural substance for stomach health and yeast, which is not affected by the possible antibiotic effects of mastic.
