Siberian Chaga – what is its impact on human health?
Siberian Chaga or Inonotus obliquus (Inonotus obliquus) is a perennial wood-decaying fungus with an exceptional content of valuable substances. The most noteworthy are beta-glucans and antioxidants, which are among the most well-known natural immunostimulants. In addition, it also contains minerals (iron, potassium, zinc, manganese), amino acids, B vitamins, betulin and cellulose.
Effect on immunity and health
Beta-glucans support the immune system, proper respiratory function and help with respiratory diseases. Regular and long-term use has a preventive effect and alleviates the course of flu-like conditions. Antioxidants slow down cell aging, protect them from free radicals and contribute to lowering cholesterol and high blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.

How to use and prepare chaga?
Chaga pieces are suitable for preparing a decoction or tincture.
Decoction:
1 tablespoon (approx. 5 g) of chaga + 2.5 l cold water. Let stand overnight in the refrigerator, the next day boil for 5–10 minutes, let steep for 5 minutes and drain. Drink 3 times a day, a cup (250 ml) half an hour before meals. The infusion will last in the refrigerator for 2–3 days.
A simpler decoction:
Pour 1 teaspoon of chaga with 250 ml of boiling water, steep for 1 hour, strain and drink a cup 3 times a day.
Tincture:
Pour 1 part chaga with 5 parts 60–80% alcohol, steep for 2 weeks in the dark. Drain and boil the sponge in water, mix the infusion with the rubbing alcohol. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day before meals.
Recommended duration of use:
Decoction – 1 month, then 10 days break.
Tincture – 2 weeks of use, 2 weeks break.
Health warning
Chaga is not suitable for use when taking antibiotics, glucose, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Suitable for children from 3 years of age. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
